Writers Block

Have you ever had writers block?

An inability to think?

Like a brick wall in your mind

stare at the page and drink.

Your eyes dart to and fro

searching for inspiration

soon you come to know

you are in a state of damnation

A poet working through night

Burning the midnight oil

Tortured with the urge to write

With no luck leading to toil.

Mind blank you casually scratch your head

you say aloud “I’m no Aristotle”

now wishing you would drop dead

answers are in the bottom of a bottle

Have you ever had writers block?

An inability to think?

Like a brick wall in your mind

Stare at the page and drink

Distractions seem full and abound

Anything would seem better than this

The most painful thing around

Even a root canal would be bliss

Doubt now settles in your heart

Your soul fills with despair

Lost before you had a start

Frustration makes for torn out hair

Suddenly an idea jumps from within

Your heart now begins to sing

Just when you think you are to win

Pen meets paper and…Nothing.

Have you ever had writers block?

An inability to think?

Like a brick wall in your mind

Stare at the page and drink
